The FreshRoast SR500 is the brand new model that comes as a larger version of the Plus 8. It is very easy to use, quiet, quick, produces very little smoke, and excellent value for the money.

Green coffee is poured into a glass jar. The husks accumulate in the upper separator during roasting. There is a measure to set the volume of coffee.

CAPACITY, TEMPERATURE CONTROL, AND OTHER INNOVATIONS

The FreshRoast SR500 automatic coffee bean roaster has the same capacity (4 scoops, 120 g) and features of the SR300 —plus three temperature settings that can be adjusted any time during the roasting process. The fan speed can be turned up to keep the beans fluid and give an even roast. As the beans become lighter, the fan speed can be turned down and keep the beans from chipping.

The SR500 Fresh Roast is a top-of-the-line roaster. It has very easy to use controls: a mechanism for setting low, medium or high heat, a rheostat for adjusting fan speed, and a digital timer.

ROASTING WITH FRESHROAST SR500

The maximum time that can be set is 9.9 minutes, however, it is quite enough to fry most of the degrees, but you can add an additional time of 6 seconds for each press of a button, and also a cooling cycle of 3 minutes, when you press the cooling button, the process starts immediately, so that you can thus “catch” any degree of roasting.

In addition, there are three options for setting the temperature, which can be adjusted at any time during the roasting process.

  1. High temperature = 255 degrees,
  2. Medium = 235 degrees
  3. Low temperature = 200 degrees

Manufacturer added a fan speed regulator, which allows you to adjust the roasting process better. Fan speed is adjustable in the adjustment range + or – 10%. Starting roasting, when the coffee is not dry enough, the fan speed can be maximal, so that the grains are not burnt, as soon as the grain becomes lighter, the fan speed can be reduced.

It will roast approximately 5 oz. of beans in about 6 minutes (plus cooling time). this will give you about 17-20 cups of coffee.

The manufacturer offers a 1-year warranty and comes with operating instructions — brand new in original box.

Pros
  • Quietest air roaster;
  • Great visibility;
  • Very simple to use;
  • Chaff collection;
  • Durable;
  • Small footprint;
  • Cooling cycle;
  • 1-year warranty;
  • Greater capacity;
  • Easy cleanup;
  • Great value for the price;
  • Simple design & operation;
Cons
  • When you turn on the roaster, the default timer setting is six minutes – this is never enough time for a darker roast;
  • Usually, we put in the green coffee beans which are small and dense, with relatively high water content. Thus, the fan that is supposed to circulate the beans may turn out to be too weak to rotate them properly. So you must agitate them manually, somehow, to avoid an uneven roast;
  • After the 3-minute cooling process, the chaff collector is still too hot to handle.
